All of you will run away (Click on the sermon title for a .pdf copy)
Mark 14:27
March 25, 2018
Do you love him? Do you love Jesus?
Do you think Peter loved him? Of course, Peter loved him! Do you think James loved him? Of course, James loved him! Do you think John loved him? Of course, John loved him!
But they all ran away.
If I had been there … I can’t say what I would have done if I had been there, but I am certain that I have no more faith, no stronger will, no more courage than Peter.
“All of you will run away and leave me,” Jesus said. And they did.
Not because they didn’t love him. But because they couldn’t. Because they couldn’t go where Jesus was going. This Jesus must do alone, all alone.
Who can bear the sins of the world?
Who can break down the walls, all the walls, that divide us from each other and divide us from God?
Who can, with his own blood, purchase our salvation?
Only him. Only Jesus. Behold the man!
